Set a password on your public channel

Want your channel to show up on the public directory but still have some level of privacy? Set a password!

Anyone in your workspace will still be able to search for and see your channel in the directory, but they'll need to enter the password before they can join or send a message.

To add a password:

  1. You must be the owner of the channel.

  2. Go to the "info" button in the top right corner of your channel.

  3. Select "Edit" in the sidebar.

  4. Scroll to the bottom of the Edit sidebar.

  5. You'll see a section called "Password to access". Here you can set your channel's password and change it at any time.

  6. Share the password with intended users so they can join the channel.
