Once you have created a channel, add users to start chatting!
Add users by Canvas integration (licensed schools)
Go to your Canvas course page.
There should be a tab on the left side called "Nectir".
Click on the "Nectir" tab to open it.
Create an account and log in, if you haven't already.
Your class channel should be automatically created in Nectir.
Every time you click the "Nectir" link, it will sync with the Canvas roster, making sure the users in the Canvas roster are in the Nectir class channel.
Add users by email (recommended, if no Canvas integration)
Go to the channel you'd like to add users to (you must be owner or moderator of that channel to add users)
Click the "members" icon at the top right of the channel.
Click the blue "+add" button at the bottom of the members tab pop up.
Copy and paste your students' emails from your roster into the text box.
Click "add users".
DONE!
This automatically adds the users to your channel, and auto-creates their Nectir account if they don't have one yet. Users will receive an email with their account information and notifying them they've been added to a channel.
Add users by invite link
This method is easy to share, since you generate a link that you can send out. Users will have to click the link, which will prompt them to create an account if they don't have one, and adds them to the channel.
This puts the responsibility on the users to click the link and sign up, unlike the two methods above.
Go to the channel you'd like to add users to (you must be owner or moderator of that channel to add users)
Click the "members" icon at the top right of the channel.
Click the "Invite Link" grey button at the bottom of the members tab pop up.
Copy your channel's invite link and share that link with those you want in the channel.
Optional: Click "Edit Invite" to set an expiration date for the invite link or change the number of times the link can be used. Be sure to "Generate New Link" if you make any edits.
DONE!
Once users click on the invite link, they will be automatically added to the channel. If they do not have a Nectir account, they will be prompted to create one.
